Wed 17th November 2010: Money & Spirituality: Seminar with internationally famous founder of rebirthing Leonard Orr:
Networking from 6pm (food provided by Hari Krishna), Introductions at 7pm chaired by Peter challen, Seminar starts at 8pm, at The School of Oriental & African Studies (SOAS), Thornhaugh Street, Russell Square, London WC1H 0XG, organised by Raga Woods in collaboration with LETSlink
.
In this seminar, Leonard will explore his thesis that the global monetary crisis we face today is a result of spiritual problems ... in that until people own their natural divinity they have trouble realizing that they have the right and power to print their own money. Until individuals print their own money and master money, they can't give government the power to print money and we remain trapped in the bankers' system. Realizing that we have the same power as the bankers to print money is basic to financial and economic freedom. A rational money system will support farmers and the services businesses and adult education as well as goods. We all deserve equal access to money and capital to finance our work and our great ideas. Money scarcity is destroying our civilization and our economic well being, not to mention our environment, because people are "forced" by money scarcity to do work that is not in harmony even with their ethics as well as values to survive in the bankers scarcity system. Adult spiritual education can be helpful to people who haven't found their divine gifts to the world. When they do find them, the money system can support them if it is designed to do this. Leonard will illustrate these ideas with actual examples, and we will also discuss follow-up action in terms of community currency projects, in London and elsewhere. Entrance by donation - or send a message on our Enquiry Form.

We are holding an information day on the sustainable economy on the wide pavement outside Karavan Eco 167 Lordship Lane, East Dulwich, London SE22 8HX, and four adjoining shops. Lordship Lane is a busy street of mostly independent retail Businesses. Karavan Eco is a retail shop selling 'sustainable' products, everything from compostable rubbish bags to natural paint and wind up radios. As part of promoting a more sustainable lifestyle we also organise and sponsor such information days to showcase locally active groups and inform people about how they can become involved and make positive change both environmentally and socially. While the events are low key and relaxed they are an opportunity to reach a wide cross section of local people.

Wed 7th June 2006: Sustainable Currencies- 6-9pm at Limehouse Town Hall, 646 Commercial Road, Limehouse (DLR from Bank), London E14 7HA In times of economic hardship, bartering is used to sustain the essentials of life. Local Exchange Trading Schemes (LETS) do this by means of local currencies. They encourage good use of resources, and enhance neighbourly relationships. Following "green dollar" experiments in Canada, the first Local Exchange Trading Scheme in the UK began in Norwich in 1985 and there are now hundreds of schemes. Some have survived well, others have fallen by the wayside. New ones are being set up incorporating web-based technology. Running a LETS is a complex, co-operative undertaking, and can be done in many different ways. We will consider what factors can help to make LETS more sustainable. Call 07966-216891 to confirm venue. Contact: london@letslink.org
